Letting go of perfection

Perfection is defined as: the condition, state, or quality of being free or as free as possible from all flaws or defects; the action or process of improving something until it is faultless or as faultless as possible.

Is perfection actually attainable? Is it worth the stress to strive for my idea of perfect?

These are the questions I have been mulling over. I prayed for help to accept myself as I am and the talents I have been given.

Then one day, a couple weeks ago, I was listening to a module from school. The presenter, who happened to be the president of the school, said something that changed me forever.

"It doesn't matter how you look, or what choices you make, because you know more then the person you're talking to."

After letting that marinate I realized he's right. And I don't want to sounds arrogant at all! I want to share this because each person has something to share to help edify the next person. Thus causing a ripple effect. As human beings we are here to strengthen one another. Each person has unique challenges. Even when the challenge may be the same, people will deal with it differently. Leading to different results which will help to teach and strengthen those around them, even when it seems others are not watching.

So is perfection (the condition, state, or quality of being free or as free as possible from all flaws or perfection) worth the effort? Is it attainable? Not in my experience. However continued improvement is.

As we work to improve ourselves, inside and out, others around me can benefit.

In this way I can move away from the ideal of perfection and work towards the goal of continued improvement. And support others to do the same.
